MCI Director’s Huffington Post Blog Champions Girls’ Education
MCI Director Susan M. Blaustein’s blog, “‘Let It Be a Lesson’: The Yearning for Learning as a Force of Nature,” appeared on the Huffington Post. In the blog, authored to help mark the UN’s International Day of the Girl, Susan pays tribute to Pakistan’s Malala Yousafzai and the many girls around the world – both outspoken and quiet heroes – who are doing everything within their power to earn an education.
MCI also joined LitWorld, the NY-based literacy champion, and a number of other organizations in LitWorld’s “Stand Up for Girls” campaign to advocate for girls’ right to a quality education. Several of our Millennium Cities, including Mekelle, Ethiopia, Kumasi, Ghana, and Blantyre, Malawi, celebrated by bringing together girls, educators and local officials to rally, march, participate in debates on girls’ issues and express themselves through creative writing and art.
